Tinubu Hails Nigerians’ Resilience, Defends Bold Reforms at 2nd Anniversary

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the resilience and unyielding spirit of Nigerians as he marked the second anniversary of his administration. In a national address, the President expressed gratitude to citizens for their support and trust, recalling that he was elected at a time of significant national challenges. He noted that together, the nation has braved difficult times with courage and determination.

Reflecting on the situation he inherited, President Tinubu said the economic and general state of the country demanded a bold and visionary redirection. He emphasized that the conditions required immediate action to reposition the nation for growth and stability. According to him, the government’s commitment to change has been driven by the need to secure a better future for all Nigerians.

The President defended the implementation of two major policy decisions—removal of fuel subsidies and unification of the foreign exchange rates—as necessary steps to prevent the country from plunging further into crisis. He described both measures as essential to ensuring the viability of all tiers of government and enhancing their ability to meet the welfare needs of the people, stressing that the old systems were unsustainable and riddled with corruption.
