President Bola Tinubu has emphasised the need for Nigeria to embrace technology, innovation, and a knowledge-based economy to maintain its leadership role on the African continent. He made this statement on Tuesday while inaugurating the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC) at the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Abuja.
The state-of-the-art complex, named after the president, is designed to enhance national security and streamline the country’s migration and border management processes. It houses several advanced facilities, including the Command and Control Centre for regular migration, the NIS Data Centre, the ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, the Interior Data Centre, and a 0.5KW Solar Power Plant.
President Tinubu noted that the centre’s establishment aligns with his administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved governance and security. He commended the NIS for its innovation and urged other agencies to adopt similar measures to strengthen Nigeria’s global competitiveness and security infrastructure.
