Tinubu to Announce Ambassadors Soon, Says Aide

President Bola Tinubu will announce his ambassadorial appointments in the coming weeks, according to Ademola Oshodi, Senior Special Adviser on Foreign Affairs and Protocol to the President.

Oshodi made this disclosure on National Television on Sunday, stating, “I believe in the next few weeks, there will be a pronouncement for the ambassadors, and steps will be taken by the Senate and accreditation to put them in place in their various missions around the world.”This announcement comes 16 months after Tinubu recalled all career and political ambassadors representing Nigeria overseas.

The delay in appointing replacements has drawn criticism from former diplomats, including Lawrence Obisakin, Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the Benin Republic, and Ayoola Olukanni, former High Commissioner to Australia. Both former envoys expressed concerns about the prolonged absence of ambassadors, citing its negative impact on Nigeria’s diplomatic relations and foreign policy implementation.
