President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Monday, January 6, for Accra, Ghana, to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on January 7. Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was re-elected in December 2024 and will succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo.
A statement released on Sunday by the presidential spokesperson confirmed that President Tinubu’s visit is in response to an invitation from Mahama, who had visited Tinubu in Nigeria earlier in December 2024. The trip underscores the cordial relationship between the two leaders and the continued partnership between Nigeria and Ghana.
