Troops Bust ISWAP Cell in Plateau, Arrest Two Suspected Terrorists

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), currently executing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, have arrested two suspected members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Plateau State.

The operation, carried out on 11 April 2025, was led by troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Shendam. Acting on intelligence, the troops dismantled an ISWAP cell operating in the Yelwa axis of Shendam Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major Samson Zhakom, the suspects—25-year-old Abdulkadir Dalhatu and Ubaidu Hassan, both reportedly posing as tailors—were apprehended during a swift sting operation.

The military described the development as a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist threats and criminal elements within the region. Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in terrorist activities and identify any additional accomplices.
