British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced yesterday that European leaders have agreed to draft a Ukraine peace plan aimed at securing Washington’s security guarantees, which Kyiv sees as crucial to deterring Russia.
At a London summit, held just two days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s tense visit to Washington, European leaders reaffirmed their strong support for Ukraine and pledged increased assistance.
The leaders also agreed on the need to boost defence spending to prove Europe’s military capabilities, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen suggesting EU debt restrictions could be eased to support these efforts.
