WHO Applauds Ekiti’s Health Sector Performance at Technical Review Workshop

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has commended Ekiti State for its remarkable strides in the health sector, describing the state’s performance as outstanding. This commendation came from the WHO State Coordinator, Akeem Busari, during a three-day technical workshop on the joint annual review of the state’s health sector held in Ilupeju-Ekiti.

Busari noted that recent data received by the global health body showed significant improvements in the state’s healthcare delivery system. The workshop, organised by the state government, was aimed at evaluating health sector performance, strengthening data ecosystems, and identifying intervention areas to ensure sustained progress.

Declaring the event open, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to healthcare, particularly his approval for the recruitment of health professionals to address staffing gaps. Participants, including officials from the State Hospitals Management Board, the Primary Health Care Development Agency, ECEWS, and UNICEF, hailed the initiative as timely and crucial to advancing health outcomes and informing future policies in Ekiti State.
