Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has said that Nigeria’s vast population can be turned into a powerful national asset if policymakers develop an effective economic framework that addresses the needs of all citizens. He stressed that population growth, when properly managed, can drive economic progress rather than become a burden.
The governor explained that it was this belief that guided the design of his administration’s six-point agenda, which focuses on policies that are inclusive and beneficial to all segments of society. According to him, the framework was deliberately structured to cater to the needs of the four million people living in Ekiti State, ensuring that no one is excluded from development plans.
Oyebanji made the remarks on Thursday in Ado Ekiti during a sensitization seminar on the National Population Policy for Sustainable Development. The event, which brought together local government chairmen, security agencies, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, aimed to highlight the importance of population management as a tool for achieving sustainable growth and improved living standards.
