Zulum Donates ₦300 Million to Niger Flood Victims, Calls for National Flood Strategy

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has donated ₦300 million to support victims of the devastating flood that recently struck Mokwa Local Government Area in Niger State. The disaster reportedly claimed over 200 lives and displaced thousands, causing widespread destruction to homes, farmlands, and livelihoods.

Governor Zulum made the announcement during a condolence visit to the Niger State Government House in Minna, where he led a delegation from Borno State to express solidarity with the people and government of Niger. He noted that the financial assistance was aimed at supporting ongoing relief efforts and alleviating the suffering of those affected by the tragedy.

In addition to the donation, Zulum urged the Federal Government to establish a comprehensive mechanism to effectively address the recurring challenge of flooding across Nigeria. He emphasized the need for proactive strategies to prevent future disasters and safeguard vulnerable communities nationwide.
