The Ekiti State government, under the leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has announced new initiatives aimed at enhancing education, job creation, and infrastructure development. Key decisions, made during the recent State Executive Council meeting, include amending the State Universal Basic Education Law to appoint a dedicated chairman and engineer to the board, aimed at strengthening basic education services across the state. Additionally, 314 primary school teachers will be promoted, a move expected to boost morale and improve educational standards.In a significant step towards reducing unemployment, the council approved the establishment of an Ekiti State Employment Trust Fund. This initiative aims to support local job creation, provide financial aid to residents, and create an inclusive, thriving economic environment. The government will also invest N85.5 million to expand the Ekiti Broilers Production Scheme to the North Senatorial District, empowering youth through poultry farming and offering local opportunities for income generation.The council further approved substantial funds for infrastructure and security improvements, including N70 million for new transformers and N61 million for reflective jackets and permits for commercial operators, aimed at increasing safety on state roads. Roads and electricity projects are also underway, with over N1 billion allocated for road construction and rehabilitation. Governor Oyebanji emphasized that these measures reflect the government’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for Ekiti residents and driving sustainable growth across the state.
