The Ekiti State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has approved several far-reaching decisions aimed at youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and economic growth. One of the major highlights is the approval of the Ekiti State Youth Policy Implementation Plan, which provides a structured roadmap for youth development through creativity, innovation, and job creation. The council also approved the conversion of the College of Health Science and Technology, Ijero Ekiti, into a polytechnic, broadening academic and technical opportunities for students.

To boost sports development, the council awarded a ₦7.6 billion contract for the establishment of an indoor sports hall in Ekiti State, expected to be completed in 52 weeks. In addition, the government approved ₦113.3 million for water treatment chemicals and reagents to ensure clean water supply and prevent waterborne diseases. Other notable approvals include ₦2.2 billion for clearing 1,300 hectares of land for mechanised farming, ₦144.3 million for customised agricultural tools under the “Bring Back the Youth to Agriculture” initiative, and the adoption of the Human Capital Development Strategic Plan, which focuses on education, healthcare, and labour force participation.

These decisions reaffirm Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to sustainable development, youth empowerment, and economic progress in Ekiti State. The initiatives are expected to enhance opportunities for young people, improve infrastructure, and attract local and foreign investments.
