OYEBANJI COMMISSIONS AVIATION FUEL DEPOT, AIRLINE PLANS DAILY EKITI FLIGHTS

October 20, 2026

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has commissioned an aviation fuel depot at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in partnership with Reeve Energy Nigeria Limited to improve flight operations and attract investment.

Oyebanji said the government was upgrading the airport’s Instrument Landing System and installing Aerodrome Ground Lighting at a cost of over N10 billion to support round-the-clock operations. He added that plans were underway to establish an independent power project to ensure reliable electricity supply.

Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, announced plans to commence daily flights to and from Ekiti and activate cargo operations by January 2027.

Okonkwo said the fuel depot would eliminate refuelling challenges that had previously limited passenger capacity and improve flight efficiency.

Oyebanji said his administration would prioritise industrialisation, investment and sustainable economic growth, urging communities to support investors.

The Chief Executive Officer of Reeve Energy, Efuru Nwakuche, commended the partnership, describing the facility as a boost to aviation services and the state’s economy.
