Oyebanji Launches Digital Smart School, Reaffirms Merit-Based Teacher Recruitment

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to transforming the education sector through digital innovation. Speaking during the commissioning of a Digital Smart School donated by Mr. Gbolahan Olayomi of Equipment Hub Group at Government College, Ado Ekiti, the Governor emphasized the project’s alignment with his educational reform blueprint. He commended the donor for investing in the community and confirmed that similar digital classrooms would be established across other public schools in the state to promote e-learning and enhance academic performance.

Governor Oyebanji stressed the importance of merit in upcoming recruitment exercises, revealing plans to hire 1,800 teaching and non-teaching staff. He warned the public against favoritism, stating clearly that all recruitment would be strictly merit-based and transparent. The Governor also disclosed ongoing efforts to train teachers in digital literacy and global best practices, ensuring they can effectively utilize the new technology tools being introduced in classrooms.

The newly commissioned facility features 16 solar-powered smart classrooms equipped with interactive digital screens, internet connectivity, and CCTV monitoring. According to Mr. Olayomi, the digital setup replaces conventional boards with high-tech solutions that support both in-person and remote learning. Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, lauded the initiative, urging parents to enroll their children in the school to benefit from the world-class facilities, while praising the Governor for his progressive and inclusive leadership.
