Some parents and guardians in Ikere-Ekiti have expressed concern over delays in securing secondary school placements for their wards despite meeting the required admission conditions.

The parents, who said they had been pursuing the matter since August, questioned why their children remained at home while their peers had resumed classes, particularly amid concerns over the rising number of out-of-school children.

One of the parents, a retiree, Mr Folorunso William, said he wrote to the State Ministry of Education in August but alleged that no meaningful action had been taken. He said the prolonged delay was causing emotional distress to the affected children.

Another parent, Pastor Christopher Adeoye, questioned the admission process, saying some pupils with lower scores in the entrance examination had been admitted while some who scored close to 400 remained without placement.

Mrs Sarah Ojo said their frustration worsened after the Area Education Officer in Ikere Local Government reportedly told them she could not give a specific date for resolving the matter.

The parents appealed to the Commissioner for Education, Dr Bimpe Aderiye, to urgently intervene and ensure that the affected children are admitted into secondary schools without further delay.
