The Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) has called on the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, to fully domesticate the disability law and establish a functional disability commission in the state. The association emphasized that such steps are crucial for the protection and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Speaking at the opening session of the 36th Annual National Conference of the association, NASET’s National President, Dr. Catherine Atteng, made the appeal, highlighting the need for urgent government intervention. She stressed that inclusive policies and institutional frameworks are key to achieving meaningful progress in special education and disability rights.
The conference, themed “Transformative Solutions and Inclusive Education for Learners with Disabilities,” brings together education experts and stakeholders across the country. The gathering aims to promote strategies that support inclusive education and ensure no learner is left behind, regardless of their physical or cognitive challenges.
