TINUBU RETURNS TO NIGERIA AFTER FOUR-WEEK EUROPEAN WORKING VACATION

September 30, 2026

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe on what the Presidency described as a working vacation. He arrived in Lagos on Tuesday after departing Paris, France.

Tinubu is expected to participate in Independence Day activities in Lagos and hold meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in the state, as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

The President departed Nigeria on August 30 and spent a week in London before moving to Paris, where he held several official engagements.

His extended stay abroad had also generated political and constitutional debate, including questions over the formal transfer of presidential powers. The Presidency, however, maintained that Tinubu continued to direct the affairs of the country while on the working vacation.
