The administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump has initiated plans to impose a general visa ban on Nigerians, alongside citizens of up to 35 other countries. This move is part of a broader immigration policy aimed at tightening travel regulations.
According to a report by The Washington Post, the proposal is detailed in an internal memo signed over the weekend by then-Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The document outlines new conditions under which nations may face visa restrictions or outright travel bans to the United States.
The report states that the targeted countries have been given a 60-day window to comply with the newly introduced requirements set by the U.S. State Department. Failure to meet these conditions could result in strict entry restrictions, affecting thousands of potential travelers.
