Two commercial motorcyclists have reportedly been swept away by floodwater at the Elemi River in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, following heavy rainfall that caused severe flooding across parts of the state capital on Monday.

The incident occurred around the Elemi area as floodwater rose rapidly, making movement difficult and leaving several roads and bridges impassable.

Reports indicate that the victims were attempting to navigate the flooded area when they were carried away by the strong current.

Emergency responders and community members were reportedly making efforts to locate the victims.

The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of residents during heavy rainfall, with authorities and residents urged to avoid crossing flooded roads, bridges and waterways.
