Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for congratulating him following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the election on Sunday.

Speaking to journalists after the declaration at the INEC collation centre in Osogbo, Adeleke confirmed that President Tinubu had called to congratulate him on his re-election.

The governor described the victory as a triumph for democracy and the people of Osun State, while thanking the President for ensuring that democracy remained strong.

Meanwhile, Accord Party chieftain, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said President Tinubu had congratulated Adeleke before the final result was formally declared.

Olajengbesi disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the INEC collation centre shortly after Adeleke was declared winner.

He commended Tinubu for what he described as his decision not to interfere with the electoral process, saying it demonstrated the President’s commitment to his promise of ensuring a free, fair and credible election.

Adeleke’s victory secures his second term as governor of Osun State.
