ATIKU URGES TINUBU TO FOCUS ON ECONOMY, SECURITY INSTEAD OF POLITICAL BATTLES

July 30, 2026

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus on tackling Nigeria’s economic and security challenges instead of engaging in political confrontations.

Reacting to President Tinubu’s declaration that he was prepared to “wrestle his opponents to the finish,” Atiku said the remarks reflected the desperation of a leader struggling with the shortcomings of his administration. He argued that Nigerians expected solutions to pressing national issues rather than political rhetoric.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the President as “a drowning man” attempting to divert attention from what he called his administration’s poor performance. He urged Tinubu to confront the nation’s challenges instead of focusing on political opponents.
