EKITI IGR HITS ₦2.75BN AS TAX COMPLIANCE IMPROVES

July 27, 2026

The Ekiti State Government says it remains committed to a fair and sustainable tax administration system that supports economic growth and voluntary tax compliance. Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service, Olaniran Olatona, disclosed this in Ado Ekiti, commending residents for consistently fulfilling their tax obligations despite the suspension of enforcement measures such as roadblocks and the sealing of business premises since July 2025.

Olatona revealed that the state's Internally Generated Revenue rose to ₦2.75 billion in June 2026, up from ₦2.06 billion recorded in the same period last year, representing a 33.2 per cent increase. He attributed the growth to the automation and digitalisation of tax collection, expanded payment channels and improved tax compliance.

The EKIRS chairman expressed confidence that Ekiti State is on course to achieve its ₦3 billion monthly revenue target while maintaining a transparent, efficient and taxpayer-friendly revenue system.
