FEDERAL WORKERS THREATEN INDEFINITE NATIONWIDE STRIKE OVER INSECURITY, WAGES

June 02, 2026

The Federal Workers Forum has threatened to mobilise federal workers for an indefinite nationwide strike over rising insecurity and unresolved wage concerns in the country.

In a communiqué issued after an online meeting on Sunday, the group criticised the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress for what it described as a lack of leadership in addressing workers’ grievances.

Signed by its National Coordinator, Mr Emelieze, and Secretary, Mr Ayo Ogundele, the forum also accused the Federal Government of exploiting workers and failing to ensure their safety and welfare.
