FG BEGINS PALLIATIVE WORK ON IFaki–OYE–ILUPEJU–KABBA ROAD IN EKITI

August 26, 2026

The Federal Government has commenced palliative work on the Ifaki–Oye–Ilupeju–Kabba road in Ekiti State following growing concerns over the worsening condition of the major highway and severe traffic congestion along the route.

The intervention comes after motorists, residents and other stakeholders raised concerns over the deteriorating road, which has increasingly disrupted movement and commercial activities in the area.

The Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, visited Ekiti State to inspect the affected route, with the Federal Government assuring residents that urgent measures were being taken to ease the situation.

The development follows growing complaints about worsening traffic around the Ifaki–Oye–Ilupeju axis, with former federal lawmaker, Senator Ayo Arise, among those who had drawn attention to the difficulties faced by motorists and residents.

The Ifaki–Oye–Ilupeju–Kabba road serves as an important transportation corridor linking communities in Ekiti State with Kabba and other parts of the country.

The palliative intervention is expected to improve traffic flow and provide temporary relief to road users while efforts continue to address the broader challenges affecting the highway.
