FG TO BEGIN PAYMENT OF ₦35,000 WAGE AWARD ARREARS BEFORE MID-AUGUST

August 06, 2026

The Federal Government has assured federal civil servants that payment of the outstanding ₦35,000 wage award arrears will begin before the middle of August. It said the release of funds is at the final stage, while outstanding promotion arrears are also being processed.

The assurance was given by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, during a meeting with the leadership of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council in Abuja, following concerns raised by organised labour over delays in implementing workers’ welfare agreements.

According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, the move is part of the government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare and settling outstanding salary-related obligations.
