INEC TO DELIST NDC AFTER COURT OVERTURNS REGISTRATION ORDER

June 30, 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to remove the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) from its register of political parties following a Federal High Court judgment that overturned an earlier ruling directing the commission to register the party.

INEC said it has applied for the Certified True Copy of the latest judgment and will act in line with the court’s decision once the document is received. The commission noted that it would not make further comments until it obtains the judgment.

According to INEC, its position before the December 10, 2025 ruling was that the NDC’s application for registration had been rejected, and the latest court decision effectively restores that earlier position.
