NAIRA STRENGTHENS TO ₦1,315.67 PER DOLLAR IN OFFICIAL MARKET

September 04, 2026

The naira has strengthened further against the United States dollar, closing at ₦1,315.67 per dollar in the official foreign exchange market.

The latest figure represents an appreciation of about ₦11 from the previous session, when the currency closed at ₦1,326.69 per dollar.

The gain came amid increased activity in the foreign exchange market, with interbank turnover rising by more than 62 per cent to about $152 million.

During Thursday’s trading session, the naira fluctuated between ₦1,302 and ₦1,324 per dollar, indicating continued improvement in the official foreign exchange market.

Meanwhile, the naira also appreciated in the parallel market, where the dollar was quoted at about ₦1,405, compared with ₦1,410 previously.

The narrowing gap between the official and parallel markets comes amid improved foreign exchange liquidity, although rates may vary among dealers and across locations.
