NFF PRESIDENT IBRAHIM GUSAU, EIGHT EXECUTIVE MEMBERS RESIGN AMID CRISIS

August 27, 2026

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, and several members of the federation’s executive committee have reportedly resigned amid mounting pressure over the management of Nigerian football.

The resignations come as the NFF faces growing scrutiny following Nigeria’s recent setbacks on the international stage, including the Super Falcons’ historic failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

According to reports, eight of the 13 members of the NFF board have stepped down from their positions.

The development could throw the federation’s leadership structure and planned elections into uncertainty as questions continue to mount over the administration of Nigerian football.

The reported mass resignations are expected to trigger further discussions over the future direction of the NFF and the reforms needed to restore stability and competitiveness to Nigerian football.
