July 25, 2026

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s approval for the creation of four new Army divisions across the country, describing it as the largest single expansion of the Nigerian Army in modern history. The Forum said the move demonstrates the President’s commitment to improving national security and protecting lives and property.

The NGF also praised the approval for the recruitment of 28,000 additional Army personnel and the acquisition of critical military equipment. It expressed confidence that the initiative would strengthen Nigeria’s counterterrorism and anti-banditry operations while enhancing the nation’s overall security architecture.
