ACCORD CANDIDATE TO CHALLENGE EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN COURT
June 23, 2026
The Accord Party governorship candidate, Opeyemi David Falegan, has announced plans to challenge the outcome of the June 20 Ekiti governorship election in court. In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, Falegan said his legal team had been directed to file a case against the APC and INEC over alleged irregularities during the poll.
Falegan alleged that the election was marred by vote buying, BVAS failures, voter intimidation and the exclusion of Accord Party from some ballot papers. He further claimed that votes cast for his party were not counted or announced in some polling units and that discrepancies occurred during the collation process.
The Accord candidate said his legal team is compiling evidence, including polling unit result sheets, videos, photographs, BVAS reports and witness statements, to support the case. He maintained that the court action is aimed at protecting democracy and ensuring that the votes of Ekiti people are properly accounted for.
