June 05, 2026
The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and the WAOH Support Foundation have empowered 3,300 women in Ekiti State with ₦100 million in cash grants and economic tools to boost small-scale businesses. While 2,000 women received ₦50,000 each, another 1,300 beneficiaries, including widows and vulnerable persons, were given items such as freezers, generators, sewing machines, grinding machines and farm implements at a ceremony held in Ado Ekiti.
Speaking at the event, Ekiti First Lady Olayemi Oyebanji said the initiative was aimed at strengthening women-owned enterprises, expanding economic opportunities and reducing poverty at the grassroots. She thanked Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her continued support for women in the state, including previous interventions such as the ICT Centre at Ekiti State University and the ₦100 million grant for women traders.
Representing Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Chief of Staff Niyi Adebayo commended Ekiti women for their contributions to the state’s development and highlighted achievements of the administration in the health sector. Other dignitaries at the event also praised the First Lady’s interventions and urged residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the June 20 election.
