ADC DEMANDS PROBE OF EDO APC CHAIRMAN OVER ‘AK-47 FIRE’ REMARK

October 05, 2026

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the police, Department of State Services (DSS) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate remarks attributed to the Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, concerning the use of firearms in the 2027 elections.

The ADC said the remarks, which referenced “General Purpose Machine Gun” and “AK-47 fire”, could threaten the democratic process and should be investigated by the relevant authorities.

The controversy followed a video in which Tenebe reportedly spoke about using “AK-47 fire” against anyone who might stand in the way of the APC’s plan to secure votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Edo State.

The opposition party stressed that elections should be determined by voters and their Permanent Voter Cards, rather than weapons, urging stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and lawful electoral process ahead of 2027.
